I like the story so far. I also like Lena's attitude toward her finding Lucas Burch. Even though people she has found along the way don't think she will ever find him, her hope does not seem to diminish, instead her hope becomes more consistent.
So far I am confused with what all the other characters mentioned relate with Lena and Lucas. I need to read more because right now I do not like that the book is such a big mystery. But I have a feeling the Joe Brown is Lucas Burch. I had that feeling when the character was introduced in the story.
Personally, I'm enjoying it so far especially now that we read chapter 2 this weekend. As Maythe mentioned before, I really enjoy Lena's optimism. No matter how many people believe her to be naive, she's still hanging on to the hope that Lucas is waiting for her. I also like that she doesn't let people's reactions to her pregnancy affect her. Most people react negatively to her being an unwed, pregnant teenager but she remains hopeful and I really respect that.
in my opinion i believe that i am not far enough in the book to have a valid opinion yet it could change at any second and considering i have no past exposure to the book or author it has made me even more curious and open as to how to feel about the book
So far I like the book because of how determined Lena seems to be and I think the books just kinda cute, and now with reading chapter 2 and finding out that she will come face to face with Lucas it seems more intresting.
I'm enjoying Faulkner's writing style so far, but I'm not looking forward to the moment when Byron's heart inevitably gets broken. That's probably gonna be a huge tearjerker.
I like it so far. I like the fact that Lena doesn't give up on finding her future husband. I am a bit confused on chapter 4 though. Can you guys please explain that chapter to me. I know it said something about Lena finding Burch but I just got all confused:/ Jessica Yanez
I love stories that begin with a number a characters whose story lines eventually all intertwine, so I like it a lot so far. The writing can be complicated to understand, but Faulkner's style of writing is intriguing.
