At the end of the play Tom leaves his sister and mother behind. He does this because he wants to start his life and live out his dreams. Knowing the conditions that his mother and sister were in, was it right for him to leave them or should he have waited for Laura and Amanda to be taken care of before he left?
Well, morally Tom should have waited for the well-being of his immediate family to become stable but either way Tom was needed and he had to make his mind up and he decided to pursue his dreams which was being a playwright. Good for Tom!!! Disagreements?
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Ali. I feel like he made the right decision for him.
ReplyDeleteThe right decision for one's self is often the most selfish. Tom did right by him, through destroying, if not impairing, both Amanda and Laura's life.
ReplyDeleteI agree Christopher, and while selfishness is usually frowned upon in society, individuals should put their own needs first at times.
