Chapter 30 The Ray of Hope that the book ends with

The ray of hope the chapter ends with is that Rose of Sharon will save the Old Man with her milk. The hysteric child will not lose his father. The Joads have also survived as a family. While they have lost many people along the way such as Noah, Tom, Grampa, they have stayed strong.  The Joads have grown a lot throughout the book. Overall, as a reader, I feel like the main ray of hope is that the Joads will survive every other tragic thing that happens to them in California and one day get their white house with a picket fence.

What did you guys think the Ray of Hope the book ended with was? Please comment down below.

  1. I agree with you. Even though we do not get to know what happens to the Joads, I felt that the ray of hope in the ending was a new life. A new life in the sense that all the good the Joads had done for people would finally come back around to them and they would get to have the white house that Ma had been looking forward to.

    1. Yeah I agree with you Pamela, the Joads kindness and hardwork will help them in the future. I feel that the Joads will get their new life and new beginning some day. I wish the book would have continued, so we could figure out what happens to the Joads.I'm glad they made so far as a strong family.

  2. I agree with you Goodness. The Joads have gone through so many tough situations that they have overcome. They learned that the entire migrant community is a whole, a family. Now anyone helps anyone else.

    1. Yeah I agree Reyna, The Joads have gone through and overcome so much. They have learned to see other migrants as their friends and family. The endings shows how the Joads are willing to give up the most precious things to save those in need.

  3. I agree Goodness. The family may have lost a lot of people on the way but, they still survived in the end. But they do have a long way to go. I also think that they will get by will any bad situation they endure. I have a question though. Didn't the granma die also?

  4. I definitely agree on this! I truly believe that the Joad's will successfully be able to overcome any obstacle throughout the rest of their family. I say this because of the bonds that were created throughout the book. With the help of each other, especially Ma Joad, they were able to keep the family organized. Unfortunately, it is true they lost members, but overall, as stated above, they were able to make spectacular bonds between each other. Thanks Goodness for the amazing post! :)
