I found Laura's character very intriguing and I compare with her in a way. Laura has a low self-esteem as well as I do. I can relate more to her character than the rest.
I found Tom very interesting because his actions affects the family's life style. For instance, if he stopped working then who will pay the bills for the apartment.
I also liked Tom. His character was very sarcastic in the beginning and I find that his relationship with his mom is relate-able to the one I have with mine.
I found all the characters interesting but I didn't' like any particular character. Although I did like Tom's character but found him to be a coward as the story developed for not putting his family first.
Jim was my favorite character. Sure what he did was messed up, but he helped Laura see herself like no one had ever seen her before. Although it is unfortunate that he left her, at least she now has a glimpse of what people other than her abject family think of her
I don't think he's weak. I just think he was looking out for himself. Some may think that is selfish, but I'd say it was more selfish of Amanda to expect him to stick around forever. Tom chose to not let his life waste away. You can't be upset with someone for getting up and making something out of themselves.
I liked Laura the most because she fragile and has no air of bitterness surrounding her. I don't like Tom because heabandoned his family. I understand his reasoning but it doesnt balance out and it doesnt completely justify his actions.
