Chapter 4 had a turning point in the plot: Joe Christmas is part black. It astonishes me because that changed the whole situation for the police. Since the police thought that that he was just a foreigner, they were not convinced on believing Brown. As soon as Brown told them he was half black, the police automatically think that Christmas is the murderer. Do you guys think that Christmas is actually the one that killed Mrs. Burden? Or is Brown's story just a way to get fast cash?
So far, some of the evidence does point to Christmas being the murderer. What motive might Brown have had if he did kill her?
ReplyDeleteI believe money had a large impact on furthering Brown's influence towards telling on Christmas. Could Brown also be racist towards Christmas(he is half black)?
ReplyDeleteSuzie...I believe that if Brown did kill Burden he was in a drunken rage. Also, we will soon discover that Christmas and Burden has sexual relations!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ali, I believe money had a huge impact on what Brown said, but I also think maybe he was the one that killed her.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ali as well i believe it could have been out of drunken rage or could have killed her because he found out Christmas was part black and didn't like he was having relations with a white woman. But the money does play a big part he threw Christmas under the bus to get a quick buck. Then brown was on the crime scene when the travelers found her body and was telling the man not to go upstairs.
