Chapter 15 is interesting. We find out that eupheus Himes has a caring for Christmases. Mrs Himes asks eupheus about mills baby. It's been 30years since eupheus got rid of millys baby. Mrs.himes thinks that Millys baby is Christmas because Christmas is 30  years old. I also think that Christmas is Millys baby.

  1. I see mrs.mceachern in mrs.hines because she is much more interested in Christmas in a positive way as opposed to mr.hines and mr.mceachern

    2. & Mr.Hines and Mr.McEachern are alike w/ being interested in religion and being violent in some way.

    3. I've noticed through out the entire book the similarities between the two characters I can see why they might be the same person.

  2. Jesus, you state that Eupheus is caring towards Christmas, yet he wanted to kill him when Mr.Hines found out about the crime Christmas committed.

  3. How is it soo that Eupheus had great anger towards Christmas, so how is it that he cared for Christmas?

  4. I think this chapter made it obvious how Eupheus was the janitor. Since the beginning we learned that he constantly went to Memphis and one day he just never returned back. It was because he tried to kidnap Christmas and was captured and fired from the job. He also talks what a conversation he had with him when he was still a child. Jesus you stated that Eupheus took care of Christmas. When in reality he took care of him in a dark way not as a grandparent.

  5. How do you guys feel about Mr. Hines going downtown and ordering them to Kill Christmas rather then handing him over to the authorities in Jefferson? What do you thin Mr. and Mrs. Hines intended to do by traveling to Jefferson after they saw Christmas?

    1. I thought he was honestly just trying to hide the truth last minute from Mrs. Hines. In chapter 16, I relives that she thought he died. None the less, their main intentions are just to see him.

  6. When we read this in class, it was shocking. I think that this is a big break thro and we will finally be able to learn more about Christmas

    1. I too feel an eagerness as to what truths we will uncover fromChristmas' life. I am sort of hoping for a happy ending to all of Christmas' suffering and misplacement...

  7. I was shocked when I discovered that Christmas maybe "Milly's baby." If he is,we may find out how Christmas arrived in that orphanage in the first place and what happened before the age of five. I'm excited for whats to come.

  8. I'm intrigued with Mr.Hines' character, so far all of the characters have had rough pasts that have helped shape their present character and I genuinely wonder why he is the way that he is. I am making the assumption that Mr. Hines is not completely healthy, or stable. He seems to space out for large periods of times and loses all of his self control when he returns to "consciousness". I don't think that Mr. Hines' presence in Christmas' life was a good thing. He was constantly putting Christmas down, and he was essentially the reason that Christmas had to put up with McEachern's constant abuse. I think that Mrs. Hines might not necessarily be a bad person, or role model for Christmas, but I doubt that Christmas will ever accept her. Based on his past experiences I doubt that he'd be able to forgive or even accept her. Besides, she cannot do much for Christmas; Hightower has already denied her wish.

    1. I agree, Mr. Hines is far from stable. I feel that if Christmas grew up under Hines, he would still be abused.

    3. I agree with both of you. I think if Joe was not an orphan, and was raised by Mr. Hines he would have been abused by him. Proof was when Mr. Hines beat his daughter with a gun. If he wasn't afraid to hit his pregnant daughter, what makes you think he won't be afraid to hit a child. I would have rather had him raised by Mr. McEachern.

  9. I don't believe Eupheus cared for Christmas since he was so eager to have him killed when he found out he had been arrested.

  10. It would be very interesting to find out more information about Christmas, for when he was left at the orphanage but I also don't believe Eupheus cared for. Christmas either.

  11. I agree I just hope that we get more information about Christmas life

  12. I believe either way, growing up Christmas would have been abused. I don't think Eupheus cares about Christmas.

  13. I think the caring nature of the women of the book show how culture was different. The men were more of savage brutes that cared about themselves and saw themselves worthy of trampling others. I believe that Faulkner did this on purpose to show and add on to the setting. Mrs.Hines and Mrs.Mcheachern both lived, or appear to have lived in similar conditions. Mr.Hines and Mr.Mcheachern both seem strongly religious and very strict with unfriendly natures.
