Chapter 25 is much similar to chapter 1 because it relates to nature and the effects that nature has on society and the world. Also, these chapters relate that there is no set back to great that can not keep the men remained as an "entire". Furthermore, this chapters promotes a much more broad form of decay through objects and people. This chapter describes the truth behind capitalism and in which store prices would plummet if the homeless people were fed, but must there be money made?
Every interesting connection with chapters 1 and 25. It is ture that both start off on how nature affects the farmers and the other people when come to the crops since harvesting them to get money is what mostly affects them.
ReplyDeleteYeah, thanks for your support towards the chapters connections.
ReplyDeleteI don't necessarily believe that the farmers are throwing away the food, so the poor won't be fed, just to make a profit. I believe that another reason why the farmers are doing an inhumane action is because they feel so much rage toward the "okies". They believe that they are the reason why California has been dragged into the Depression. When there is so much anger towards a group of people that you don't care if they die, then they would be willing to do anything, even if that means throwing away food while others are starving.
ReplyDeleteI agree completely. The small time farmers can not compete with the other corporation esque farmers. This obviously leaves them angry and resentful, and the easiest targets to take out their rage are the "okies". Furthermore, I believe the book hinted that the big time farms told the little faarmers not to give their food to the "okies", out of fear they will get use to it, and begin to demand it.
