Apperception
We already know that Lucas left and changed his name once he found out that Lena was pregnant. But that wasn't the case in Lena's point of view. She was told that he was forced to work at the mill. Before he left, she told him to write to her if he gets the chance. Time flew by, no letters were sent, and she grew impatient. She took it upon herself to go find him in Jefferson. She thought that he would be surprised. If Lucas hasn't communicated to her, people are telling her that there is no "Lucas Burch" around town, that should tell her something. She is blinded from the fact that he may have left her. I agree with Mrs. Ross when she said that Lena was too naïve. What are your thoughts about her?

I think it is sweet of Lena that she really liked Lucas so much that she became blinded from the fact that he left her. I feel bad for her because Lucas left her thinking that he was going to write to her. I do think she is naive though.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Roxana, the "love' she has for Lucas is most certainty blinding her. Just as the saying goes..."love is blind".
DeleteLena is optimistic despite that her relationship with Lucas has changed. She's naive because she likes to believe that he is still there for her and that they still love each other when in reality, he left her.
ReplyDeleteYeah i agree with you Kate. she is really optimistic, despite all the obstacles she has faced and will face. But I wouldn't call it naivety but being rather hopeful and optimistic.
DeleteLena is very blinded by "love" and can't see what is really going on. She is very naive and can't see what kind of situation she is in. She is about to have a baby yet she is walking from Alabama to Mississippi.
ReplyDeleteI agree, she is blinded by her love for Lucas and starting her own family. She walks to Mississippi with crazy hopes, I hope that as the book goes on she realizes how blind she was. I also hope that she finds her family, because she needs someone good in her life.
DeleteI agree with all of you. I appreciate your opinions
ReplyDeleteI believe she is blinded by love. Love gives her the strength she needs to keep moving forward. We know Lena is a very persistent person.
