Jim Casy's Philosophy

Okay guys,so I'm a bit late to the blogging scene here, but I was curious about  what you all thought about Jim Casy's way of thinking. I really like his idea that working and uniting with your fellow men is one of the holiest acts you could do.You understand everyone else's struggle because you share them, too, and you learn to support each other. The dangers of keeping to yourself for so long is the loss of human contact. You lose touch with people and one doesn't know how to connect with others as easily anymore. So what do you guys think? Is it better to work alone or do you believe that unity is better? What could be the pros and cons to both?

  1. Pros and cons of unity are 1. The pro would be that achieve more and greater as whole. Like the saying two heads are better than one. A collective of great minds, thoughts, ideas and skills could be very useful all together. We all need to help each other because if we don't we die alone. The con however is that there is always a group or just one person who could care less about anyone else. Perhaps he joined the unity of people to get the easy way out not because he believes in helping others. Another con is betrayal. It's inevitable and the outcome is pure chaos. Should the time come everyone will suffer the consequences. The unity of people could also be disastrous to themselves. Like Ayne Rands book "Anthem" , a group of people believed that communism was the right idea and the world suffered from the lack of uniqueness and creativity. The world became dull. So personally I think unification can't do no more good than bad. Just an opinion though. :)

  2. Though it is good to work in unity, it is still important to work alone in some cases in order to continuously maintain your understanding of certain aspects in your physical and mental abilities. Neither one is better than the other, because each aspect balances each other out. Casy was too immersed in unity as a pastor, but because he could not truly work alone to recuperate his mind, he could not make life decisions as effectively as he should have.
