Faulkners Writing style

Falkner writes with a unique writing style. His book so far seems to have no particular order. The novel also

seems to focuse on one character at a time by following them in the present or the past by the use of

flashbacks which at times makes the book confusing. What do you think Faulkner achieves by writing this

way?

  1. I think he keeps the readers attention by writing this way. I also think he challenges the reader to think in an analytic way versus other less complicated novels that don't challenge your thinking at all.

  2. His writing style also helps the reader to get inside each of the characters head's and understand, rather than just be told, why they think and act the way that they do. It is a unique style, and like Stephanie said, it does challenge the reader to think and more more aware of what they're reading.

    1. I agree with Vanessa. I was thinking about this. This novel reminds me a lot of The Kite Runner. Its contains the similar format and captures attention.

    2. I believe he does this to capture the readers attention and allow them to become aware of the character's life. It is unique and like Stephanie and Vanessa said, it does challenge the reader to be more aware of what they are reading.

  3. I actually like the way his style of writing is. A lot of people think that it can be confusing, and at some points it is. But I think he uses this style to help us better obtain the history behind each character and learn more about the past that each went through.

  4. In this case I would have to disagree with Stephanie and agree with the first part of what Vanessa said because personally Faulkner doesn't appear to be challenging the reader to analyze his writing he seems to be trying to simulate the actual thought process of the human psyche. In this way the reader is more likely to connect with the characters because he makes them seem for more realistic by connecting the history of the characters to how the characters presently think and act.
