I just wanted to briefly comment on the way the author portrays Chillingworth in chapter 10 i believe at the end. I dont know about you guys but that last passage gave me the chills. What did he find underneath Dimmesdale's vest? I dont know but the way he acted so satan-like was horrifying. Now i indubitably ;) see Chillingworth as the antagonist here!
Oh, man. What if Dimmesdale carved an A into his chest or something, to match Hester's scarlet letter? That'd be crazy.
ReplyDeleteJust to comment on your last comment here, I thought it was so unusual that the story doesn't remain with the default SET protagonist and SET antagonist. The antagonist in the beginning of the story was society, but now Chillingworth is making his appearance as the "villian". But yea, I agree! The portrayal in chapter 10 was very profound and, well... Chilling.
ReplyDeleteWell wasnt he hurting himself with flagilation (sorry for the spelling) and he was basically causing himself harm so its posdible he might have also carved an A.
