This is in regards to the character Noah. I know his departure served as a way to show how the Joad's were crumbling at that certain point of the book, and to give even the reader a sense of despair considering the one of the strongest theme's emphasized was the power in unity. Although, I guess I got my hopes to high since I was expecting something hidden in Noah's persona. Maybe like a moment of glory where we see him as more as we perceived like Rose of Sharon but in a smaller scale. I know it's insignificant, but Noah was the only character in the book that left me unsatisfied.

Yeah i agree. He was almost like a huge disappointment throughout the whole story. He never really did anything in the book that actually helped everyone, he was always kinda just there.
ReplyDeleteI think Noah was actually a pretty good character. He was no where near a huge disappointment. I saw Noah a character that represented the middle child in the family. The child that is kind of ignored and not paid much attention. After a while Noah realizes that and leaves knowing he won't be missed much. I don't know just something about Noah makes him an alright character. I think he had meaning within the book.
ReplyDeleteIt was sad reading the reason why he was the way he was. I bet his Tom Sr. must still carry the guilt of the incident... Accidentally deforming his baby at birth
