So the ending of the book is far from what I expected and I'm curious to what you guys think. Did Steinbeck leave it off perfectly or was there a cliffhanger. Plot holes? Personally I wish we could have known exactly how Tom wounded or Noah, maybe even Connie. I know what happened but I want to know how they were over time. Thoughts?
I love how you have "spoiler" in parenthesis:) But yah I absolutely think that Steinbeck left us at a major cliffhanger and I'm about to fall off!! I really want to know what happened to Tom, Noah, and Connie as well. Oh and if Sairy died or not or if the Wilsons ever made it to California. Steinbeck is one of those authors that really gets into depth with details, yet leave a cliffhanger causing us to want more.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. I believe that's what makes the story better and realistic because not everything is a happy ending or an ending at all. I admire Steinbeck for leaving the book with no ending because it gives the readers a chance to make up their own ending to the story or flood their thoughts with questions.
ReplyDeleteYeah I think he did it that way on purpose because in reality it kind of makes you like a book better when you have no ending because you can get the creative juices flowing in your head. However, I'm not sure how I feel about the last sentence it's kind of eerie in a way. Or am I the only one that thinks that?
ReplyDeleteThe ending was a bit questionable if have to agree but i think this is done on purpose the author motivate this idea of reaching the American dream an becoming successful but maybe he's trying to do more than just write a story maybe and i know i sound crazy but he want us to give and strive to reach that dream am make an ending for ourselves one the is a story if our own
