In chapter 17, Lena has her baby and Byron now has all the responsibilities that a father would have. Also, we find out that Hightower does not want Byron to be involved with Lena. "...You have a manchild that is not his, by a man that is not him. You will be forcing into his life two men and only the third part of a woman..." (Faulkner 411).
What would you do if you were Byron and had to be a father to Lena'a baby? Would you walk away from it all or stay with Lena? Do you agree with Hightower that Byron shouldn't be with Lena?
In today's society many people have step children, but most of the time they're already a little bit grown so I don't really know how I would react. It depends on the person your committing to.
ReplyDeleteI agree with John at a some level. Byron should stay if he does love her, maybe she is not everything he wanted but he changed too. If you love someone your feelings should be irrevocable.
DeleteI think Byron should stay with Lena. I don't agree with Hightower because Byron should follow what he thinks is right and not what others expect from him. If he's happy with Lena and her child I see nothing wrong with staying with her.
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree Selina, Byron should stay would Lena if he truly loves her. If i was Byron and I loved Lena, I would stay with her, even with the baby around.
DeleteI also think that Byron should stay with Lena because it's the woman he loves. It would be unfortunate if he left, especially after she recently had her baby. I feel like since Hightower had his own rough times with his wife doesn't necessarily mean it's the same for every relationship.
ReplyDeleteI think that Byron should stay with Lena if he truly loves her, him staying with her will show us if he really loves her or he just talk talk, and i feel like Hightower is very selfish by not wanting Byron to stay with her because since he had bad times with a girl he doesn't wanna be the odd one.
ReplyDeleteI think he should stay with her because that's his feelings. No one should control his feelings and his actions. Love is a free will. I believe as well Hightower was being very selfish because of his own experience as well.
