Chapter 9 - Is a new beginning possible ?

A passage in this chapter made me think about our lives. Everyone says that we CAN start over with our lives and change it, but is it even possible ? In a way our past experiences affect us in one way or another how can we possible forget that ? How would we know what to do when we are trying to not to judge our present decisions with our past knowledge ? Wouldn't it always be in our minds helping us with our new choices ?

  1. I do not think a completely new beginning is possible, but I do believe one can try to change their life and their lifestyle. That being said, I think that in order for someone to "start again" they must focus on their goals and aspirations and meet the requirements to achieve them. Our past experiences do not completely affect our future. To an extent, they do limit the amount opportunities we may have, but they do not have complete control over our future. One's past does not define one's future.

  2. In the modern world you never have a new beginning. Couple generation ago people can make mistake, cause problems but that person can change from a bad kid to a good person. Today, one mistake and world will know and that will predict the future. A person past would not be compare past and future decisions but people around will. Unlike Julia, I believe one's past defines one's future.

  3. I think the past greatly influences our present thoughts and decisions. For example, let's say you touch a hot stove, and because you touch the hot stove you burn yourself. Now that you have the new information, in the future you will know to not touch the hot stove. Our past is a huge part of our lives
