Abigial and Proctor
We learn that the affair ended seven months ago; however, Abigail makes it clear that she wants Proctor back. Proctor, on the other hand, is determined not to resume their relationship (which is just a bit different than saying he does not still want to be with). So could Abigian and Proctor possible get back together?
I do not think that it would be possible for them to, not necessarily get back together (since it was a one time thing, to the best of my knowledge), but to have a successful relationship because of Elizabeth. Granted, she and Proctor have had rough patches in the past and they do not reflect the "perfect" marriage; however, they did care for each other enough to avidly attempt to protect each other from the trials. Abigail, being the root of it all, would not have been able to change the feelings that Proctor had had for Elizabeth.
ReplyDeleteIgnoring if it could be done successfully do you think John would ever be with Abigail again after what he saw her do in the witch trials?
DeleteI don't think he will get back with Abigail because he takes so much crap from Elizabeth, he wouldn't be wasting time on that. He wants things to go back to normal, but Elizabeth makes it impossible.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Proctor and Elizabeth not getting together again. He has told Elizabeth the truth about the affair long ago and he is trying to prove himself worthy again. He would not waste everything Elizabeth and him have had for an affair.
ReplyDeleteI think the sympathy John Proctor had for Abigail went away once he saw what she had become. Whether the feelings Abigail reveals during the with trials were harboring in her all along or not, John never saw Abigail openly demonstrate those feelings. That is why I believe any sympathy John still felt for Abigail dissipated throughout the story.
