Perhaps for the first time in his life, Christmas finds himself openly welcomed even if not formally introduced. We have seen how much pain he has endured during his young life whether it be physical abuse or emotional scars. Now Mrs.Burden has her doors open to him and feeding him yet there is little to no communication between the two. Why do you think he sticks around other than food and shelter?
Maybe because he's curious to why she feels so safe in her environment. As you said he came from a life of abuse and emotional trauma, yet here is a woman who doesn't even bother to lock the windows and doors.
ReplyDeleteOr not to mention the fact that she easily accepted him, something no one else was able to do during his childhood.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Summer. She easily accepted him like no one else did. She did not care about his background or history and that's what makes him come back to question why she does and sees different from everyone else.
ReplyDeletedefinitly agree with both Summer and Michaela. Although Christmas was adopted by Mr.McEachern we see that he wasn't really cared for, he was taught at a young age to work and therefore his childhood was taken from him and when he met Mrs.Burden he met someone who actually cared for him.
ReplyDeleteMhmmm I really like that idea mentioned in quite a few comments on this particular blog, perhaps the reason why Christmas sticks around is due to the curiosity of why Ms. Burden accepted him and hasn't rejected him like everyone else has.
