i havent really understood the story that well lately but i feel as if Ms. Burden hasn't really helped Christmaa out that much. I feel as if she has made Christmas suffer or be worried a bit, for example when she talks about marriage and having a child, which has made everything worst
I agree with Muna and do believe that ms burden is kinda like using him and maybe that's the reason why he like becomes frustrated and then causes him to even turn more bad.
I feel some sympathy for Joe Christmas but sometimes I just get upset with him. Instead of feeling sorry for himself he could actually do good things for himself like get a nice job and just come to peace with himself instead of inflicting violence on others and making himself seem that more of an enemy in society. Yes, he did have a rough past but he has the choice to do better for himself instead of worse.
I'm confused as to how there is "hardly a chance at a better life for people like Christmas". It's been shown that no one pays much attention to his skin color or suspected that he was biracial whatsoever until it was revealed by Brown, and he did manage to get himself a stable job at the planing mill. Theoretically, he could have made himself a better life and possibly a better mindset to boot. I happen to agree with Michaela, at least to some extent. A large portion of Christmas' suffering is self-inflicted, to varying degrees.

ReplyDeleteconsidering this is a representation of the past and we have seen joe afterwards i doubt Ms. Burden will have much positive affect if not negative
ReplyDeleteI too feel some sympathy towards Christmas and believe Ms. Burden is only using Christmas for her own reassurance and relief.
